"What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book, and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf?"
My Answer: Honestly, if you know me, you know I suffer from severe OCD when it comes to my books. I've finally started to let up on that, but I used to feel as though if I started even the first few pages of a book I had to keep going until the end. I've bagged that theory -- it's not like the author is going to know I started reading it and decided to read something else. Now, no matter how bad the book starts off I will still put it back neatly on the shelf so that I can give it another try later on down the road.
Here's what really makes me close a book after the first few pages:
- I have found that I really have to be in the mood for certain books, and if I start reading it and my ADD kicks in, I know it's time to put the book away and go find a new one.
- If the spelling and grammar are even a little off, or the writing style is "weird" to me...back on the shelf.
I really think that all of this just depends on my mood. I can't tell you how many times I've started reading a book and put it down only to come back to it a month later and think it was the best thing ever written. I can glance over at my bookshelf now though and tell you that I do see a few books that I don't have any intention of picking up any time soon....but you never know.
What about you?
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you are having a great week! A very warm welcome to my new followers, and a huge thanks to my old followers for sticking around!
Happy Reading!

Love your page set-up and the font! I am like you- it took me a while to give myself permission to put a book down if it felt like torture to keep reading. I still rarely do it, but if I truly can't get into it, I will put it down. Eventually.
Have a great weekend! Hopping by...
