Welcome to my blog, A Writer's Review! I'm just a typical twenty-something girl trying to live each day to the fullest. I'm an avid reader, and always have been. I've taken a few sabbaticals here and there from reading (mostly due to boring required reading in school), but now I'm back at it!
I've always had a love for books -- the way they smell, the smoothness of the jackets and the ability to get lost for hours. My mom always tells me that when I was younger I used to have all kinds of books on tape and I would listen to them over and over again while "reading" the book until I was actually able to read the book. My favorite bedtime stories were Goodnight, Moon and Mickey and the Beanstalk. I can still hear my mom and I yelling "Fe Fi Fo FUMMY!".All About Me
Anyway, now days you won't find me with out a book. I actually will no longer buy a purse if I can't fit my Kindle or a book inside. I've always told people that I wish there was some way that I could get paid for reading all day, and I hope to find that dream job somewhere, someday. For now, I will keep my office job and read during my free time.
I started up this blog in January of 2010 as a way to keep track of the books that I read, and my own little reviews. I didn't realize that book blogging was so big. Things got busy at work and I kind of left the blog on the back burner, but kept reading. In September I decided that not only did I want to post reviews of books that I enjoyed reading, but I also wanted to share my love of books with others. That is when I realized how many book bloggers there were! I am so happy that I've decided to come back to this community of avid readers. It gives me a great way to find new books to read, and to share my passion with everyone else.
I am still pretty new to the blogging world, so I am learning a lot as I go. I've made some great blog-buddies so far, that have also taught me a ton of tips/tricks!
I do have other interests aside from reading. I love all things art! I've been painting with acrylics for about two years and I love it. It is such a great way to express myself -- and I get to decorate the house while doing so! I've been with my boyfriend for 7 years, and we have a wonderful puppy who is the love of my life! She is the best reading buddy ever -- she will just curl up right next to me on the big chair and fall asleep while I read. It is adorable. Unfortunately, not many of my friends are avid readers like myself, so it has been such a blast to meet different book bloggers and see that I'm not completely insane. I do have a serious addiction to books (but it could be worse -- right?). I will only allow myself to buy one book at a time if I go to the bookstore. I have two bookshelves filled with books right now, but for some reason I can't leave the store without at least getting one more book. I am also completely OCD when it comes to my books. They each have their own spot, alphabetically by author on the bookshelf, and I can tell if you move them around.
I've been known to go up to strangers in public to find out what they are reading and if they like it. I usually get some weird looks -- but just wait -- one day when I'm a famous book reviewer, I'll be the one giving the weird looks. *evil grin*
